Default X-keys?

Hey guys,
Are any of you using an x-keys setup (i think i saw a pic of one or 2 on the forum, but i cant seem to find it again)?
I was thinking of getting the x-keys 58 pro (http://www.xkeys.com/xkeys/xkpro.php) for the ICP and other functions and i was wondering if anyone has done the same, how they've got it setup and do they need the keyboard for anything in-game?
Can you do a rampstart with just your x-keys?

I'd love some info

Cheers guys

I used X-keys for quite awhile. They're pretty straightforward, for the most part. I printed out some key caps that look like the ICP keypad, and laid that out in the center of the X-keys panel. The unused keys around the periphery I just assigned to frequently-used functions.

Key assignment is with an included keyboard/macro editor. You flip a switch on the X-keys and it goes into "programming mode", which allows you to assign any keypress (or multiple keypresses) to an X-key button.

Any command you have in your Falcon keyfile is fair game. You could, if you had all the functions assigned in your keyfile, do a rampstart just with X-keys...theoretically. The X-key version I had came with a "shift" function which allowed two different key or macro to be assigned to each Xkey button. That's a lot of functions, and should be sufficient to do a ramp start.

Hey Steve, I highly recommend you to use "Touchbuddy" program with an 8" touch monitor. This is really straightforward and intuitive. You can make unlimited settings with this program. This is their website.

Hi Steve,

Not sure how I could show you...AFAIK there's no config file or anything...just press an X-key, then press the key commands you want it to send. If you go to the hardware/cockpits thread, TopB (I believe) had some nice photos of his X-keys/CH MFP layout. I pretty much took my physical layout from him.

Also: what Shawn (Da Man ) said -- a small touchscreen monitor would go far beyond what Xkeys can do for you. I've retired my X-keys for this Touchbuddy setup.

Here is my xkeys layout, I have it numbered to allow for Rampstart, Comms calls and a few misc keys. I also have an X-Keys Stick and 2 CH MFP's that I use for other keys.

I have also attached an Excel Spreadsheet that you can use that if printed will give you the right size cut outs for the X-Keys.

Attached Files
File Type: xls XKEYS and STICK LAYOUT.xls (142.5 KB, 6 views)

TopB - thanks mate!! I'd be looking to go the xkeys, with the new thrustmaster MFP's.

Not to sure on the touchbuddy deal... i downloaded it and had a look (albeit with my non-touch screen second monitor) and i couldn't find many layouts for F4AF and it didn't work to well in the 2d cockpit with the mouse.

The touchpal program someone made for DCS: Black Shark looks pretty awesome though... but i havent seen anything like that for F4AF

Can any of you guys recommend a touchscreen and tell me what touchbuddy profile you're using?
It looks like it'd be cheaper that way rather than the xkeys!

I just got my 10.4" touchscreen and TouchBuddy going. I am having a couple of issues trying to program TouchBuddy to work with Gunny Keys since that's what I have grown accustomed to with my HOTAS, but I LOVE TouchBuddy. It's just really awesome.

Steve,

If youre still interested, I have a set of X-Keys I could part with. Make me an offer and we'll see what we can do.
